Islanders open dual track meet season against Lincoln

 Lincoln Dual:         
The boys and girls track teams posted nearly identical scores as both chalked up wins over Lincoln in their first dual meets of the season; the boys by a score of 76-51, the girls by 76-50. In the boys meet first blood was drawn in the 4x100 as the quartet of Keiyon Gordon, Brad Stark Jason Trueblood and Brady Fitelson surprised the Hornets by taking the event with a time of 46.4. The next two events saw the Islanders increase their lead with Jake Ruzevick and Jack Harms placing 1-2 in the 1600, and Trueblood and Stark doing the same in the 110 hurdles. They repeated this 1-2 finish later in the 300 hurdles to dominate the barrier events. Ruzevick and Harms repeated in the 3200 with Brad Munns in third. In both the 100 and 200 meter dashes Fitelson and Gordon placed first and third. Munns also had a pair of seconds in both the 400 and 800 meter runs with Trueblood picking up the third place point in the 400. Adam Munns, Reid McLean and Gordon swept the high jump. Munns (Adam) also placed second in the triple jump and third in the long jump with David Hutchison placing third and second respectively. The only points in the throws came from David Zodrow who placed third in the shot put and David Loving with a third in the discus.

Katherine Wingert was a triple winner for the girls in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs. The Islanders swept the 3200 with Caitlin Bigham and Caitlin Alley tied for second. Alley also placed third in the both the 800 and 1600. Beth Wittry also tripled by winning the 200, 400 in 60.8 seconds and the triple jump. Jamie Klages took both the high jump and the 300 meter hurdles as well as placing second in the 100 meter hurdles. Christina Coy placed third in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Morgan Gary won the long jump with Justine Gordon and Monica Ascolani in second and third. Gary also placed second in the triple jump and Gordon third in the 400. Nila Hurtelou won the 100 in 13.1. Megan Mushovic, in addition to a second place finish in the 200, picked- up our only points in the throws by placing second in the shot put and third in the discus. Justine Gordon.

Mt. Carmel: 
At the Mt. Carmel Invite on Saturday Jake Ruzevick set a PR in the 1600 meter run (mile) with a 4:32.8 clocking. At that same meet Katherine Wingert ran the 800 in 2:24.
