In the first meet of the 2018 season, the Mt. Carmel Field and Distance Invite the four girls pictured above broke the Islander Distance Medley Relay (DMR) school record. Madden Hundley (right girl above) ran the 1200 leg followed by her sister, Abigail (girl on the left) who ran the 400. Sofia Van Arsdale (second from right) ran the 800. The 1600 anchor leg was run by Teresa Perez (second from left). Abigail and Sofia are both freshmen. Teresa and Madden are juniors. Teresa also holds school records in the 800, the 1600, the 2-mile, and Cross Country. The others had great seasons with some fast times to their credit. Madden had a PR in the 1600 this year of 5:07.10 as well as a PR in the 3200 of 11:33.37. Abigail ran 5:12.91 for the 1600 at the CIF Prelims. Sofia ran 2:18.96 for the 800. All four ran in the fast heats at the CIF finals, and all four will be back next year for both Cross Country and Track.
