Bill Corlett's time of 21.6 in the 200 would be one of the top times in the County any year. The record was originally set in 1964 at a distance of 220 yards in 21.7 and later converted to 21.6 for the now-standard 200 meter distance. The previous year Corlett was a member of the 4x100 relay team that now shares the record of 44.0 seconds with our 2000 squad.
Previous Record Holder:
Ray Turnipseed: 1944 ... 21.9 for 220 yards
The record above was taken from a list of school records prepared by Sunday Durland in 1955. There appear to be gaps in the records from 1955 to 1994 so if anyone has information on records set during this period
please contact me here.
