On Saturday, at the Elmer Runge Classic, Ruzevick placed third in the 1600 with a time of 4:25.62 placing him well within San Diego’s top 10 “milers.” McLean placed second in his 300 hurdles heat with 43.02 and third overall in the long jump with 20 feet 10 inches. Munns raised his PR in the high jump to 6 feet 5 inches ranking him among the top 3 in the county. In the frosh/soph 400 freshman Michael Mitchell placed eighth out of two heats in 55.33. Later Mclean, Mitchell, Munns and Ruzevick teamed up in the 4x400 and posted one of the top dozen times in the county so far this year in 3:33.26 with Mclean running the first leg in 50.8 seconds, a time that would place him fourth in the county if run in an open race. In the throws, David Zodrow PR’d in the shot put with 38 feet 10 inches for 13th overall and placed 18th in the discus. In the girls events Nila Heurtelou won the open 400 in 60.37 and placed third out of all 200 heats clocking 26.53. These times rank her in the top five country-wide for the 200 and in the top 10 county-wide for the 400 along with teammate Beth Wittry who ran the same time at the Sun Devil invite the previous week. In the girls 1600 Katherine Wingert placed second in a close race to UC’s Rowena Tam in 5:24.22 then doubled back in the 800 in 2:26.89. In field events Eckert, pole vaulting for the first time in competition, cleared 7’-6” for sixth place. Castro placed sixth in the shot put with 30’-3”and 15th in the discus. |
