Six Islanders (4 girls and 2
boys) make the all-harbor league cross country team.
Jake Ruzevick made it 4 harbor championships in a row by winning the
individual race Monday Nov. 8th. He finished the 3 mile Morley field
loop in 16:03, a minute in front of runner-up Pedro Kubelis from Crawford.
Freshman Ben Enowitz also made the team, which consists of the top
10 finishers by placing 3rd in 17:11. Normally Brad Munns would have
made this select group but he sat out the race because of a pinched
nerve. Hopefully we’ll have him back for the CIF finals. Michael
Davies finished 13th in 18:53 followed by Jose Tijerina (16th), Josh
Fink (17th), Alton Smith (20th), Drew Lewis (21st) and Tim Bowman
(25th). The girls placed 4 in the top 10 led by Ashley Walsh who finished
2nd in 21:24 followed by Karolin Ivarsson (5th in 22:30), Hope Alexander
(7th in 23:41) and Katie Gomrick (10th in 23:41). Anneke Nelson was
14th and Sarah Player 16th. The state qualifying meet will be held
this Saturday at Morley field. The D-IV boys run at 10:40, the girls
at 12:15.
