On Friday the boys team ran in the Division
4 Varsity race in the Mt. SAC Invitational at Walnut California. This
is the largest and most prestigious high school cross country race
in the country with over 12,000 finishers this year. Ruzevick placed
2nd clocking 16:26 over the hilly 3 mile course followed by Ben Enowitz
(8th in 17:19), Brad Munns (18th in 17:52), Michael Davies (66th in
19:41), Josh Fink (88th in 20:08), Jose Tijerina (93rd in 20:14),
and Drew Lewis (113th in 21:15) to finish 7th behind San Diego Section
rival Bishops in 6th. Throwing out all of the displacers, in a head-to-head
contest (a dual meet), the Islanders would have beaten Bishops by
4 points. This sets-up a very close contest between Coronado, Bishops,
and La Jolla Country Day at the CIF finals on November 20th with only
the top 2 teams advancing to the state meet. |
