In 1961 Scott Knox's time of 49.2 for the 440 yard dash was the best in the county. Coach Sunday Durland always had great quarter milers and 1961 was a banner year with Knox combining with Mike Turner, Charles Roberts and Bob Concannon
to set the still-standing 4x400 meter relay record of 3:21.1c.
